Apley Grange Reaches 100

Sunday, 12 October, was 100 years to the day since the land for Apley Grange – a plot of six acres on the corner of Hookstone Drive and Oatlands Drive – was purchased by its first owner, the builder of the Grange, who was, fittingly, a woman. The house seems to have passed through several owners before it was bought by the Society from a Mr. Marshall in 1949.

The present community at Apley Grange marked the centenary of the purchase of the land with a service of thanksgiving in the chapel, during which a tree which the province had given was blessed. The tree, not yet very big, had pride of place beside the altar.
