APLEY GRANGE Residential & Nursing Home

When finally we lay down our lives in love …   SHCJ Constitutions #77

Europe’s population is an aging one, as we know, and issues of care for the elderly and infirm are constantly in the media.

In Harrogate, Yorkshire, on the site of what used to be part of an SHCJ school, live many of the older sisters who are no longer able to manage independently. We now share our care home, Apley Grange, with other women residents.

In this setting, sisters continue their ministry with generosity and courage. They live the part of the Constitutions reminding us that:

… as our physical powers diminish and we suffer the loss of persons and things we cherish, the Lord trims his vine. Our relationships take on a deeper apostolic quality. We can now witness in a new way to our trust in God’s promises and our anticipation of glory. #77
