Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep is a co-sponsored ministry of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus.

Andy Estrada, class of 2019, is now a published scholar. Andy recently earned a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience from Loyola University Chicago. He also secured a Research Assistant position at Northwestern University and contributed to published research in The American Journal of Cardiology. This underscores his ambition for further education and hopes of attending medical school.

Andy’s interest in Neuroscience began at CRSM when his grandfather was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Serving as his translator at the hospital fueled Andy’s passion for helping those with neurological disorders, marking the start of his remarkable journey. While at Loyola, Andy faced challenges, particularly with the demanding Chemistry courses. However, his involvement in the Cristo Rey program, “Brothers for Excellence,” gave him confidence to overcome these obstacles. He credits Cristo Rey for giving him a sense of belonging and vital mentorship.

With support from the Cristo Rey Network and his determination, Andy graduated from Loyola University Chicago. He also participated in a University of Chicago summer program, contributing to published research on Myocardial Bridges in The American Journal of Cardiology. Last year, he presented these findings in New Orleans.

The entire Cristo Rey Community sends their best wishes to Andy as he continues his journey in research and higher education.
