SC LAMP Staff Members Celebrate 20 Years of Caring Service

Leticia and Blanca

As we celebrate 25 years of empowering families through education, two of our Early Childhood Teachers celebrate 20 years of providing a caring and supportive learning environment for the littlest of our participants. Teachers Leti (née Leticia Larios) and Blanca (Arreola) work in the Infant Room, where little ones are introduced to learning through exploration and song. Both of these women are being recognized by SC LAMP and Mayor Garcetti for their dedication and commitment. Their long tenure speaks to SC LAMP’s nurturing environment, one where staff and participants alike enjoy working.

In 1993, the Sisters from our founding orders set out to create programs that supported women and their children. Today, we continue to provide family-centered programs that prepare children ages 0-5 for kindergarten while helping mothers develop important language, parenting, and advocacy skills. Each year, we are encouraged by the gratitude expressed by the mothers and look forward to impacting the lives of many more families.

Quotes from current participants speak from the heart!

“Being a part of this place is a unique and special opportunity. This is my third and final year and am very grateful for the program.” – Miriam H.

“SC LAMP has made it possible for [my daughter] Naomi to like books. Every night, she brings me two books to read that she herself picks out from the library at SC LAMP.” – Miriam G.

On May 15th, South Central LAMP will honor the Special Women of SC LAMP at our Person of the Year event.
