Holy Child Sisters Respond to George Floyd’s Death

June 3, 2020

The Society of the Holy Child Jesus – American Province joins with our brothers and sisters throughout our nation and the world in mourning the brutal killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We are deeply saddened and distressed by Mr. Floyd’s death and extend our prayers to his loved ones. We also pray for those who continue to endure the pain and suffering of systemic racism, social injustices, and extrajudicial deaths, including Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and many more lives. We ask God for the grace and strength to examine our own hearts and actions and to lovingly embrace all His people.

The mission of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus is to help people believe that God lives and acts in all of us and in our world.  We remain steadfast to the principles of justice, peace, respect, and dignity. We reject hatred and violence in all forms.

In the words of our founder, Cornelia Connelly, we seek and invite others to “love in strength,” knowing that God is present and calling us to work toward a more just, compassionate, and harmonious world.
