Cristo Rey New York High School is a co-sponsored ministry of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus.

On Good Friday, Cristo Rey New York High School students took to the streets of Midtown to participate in The Way of the Cross, Pax Christi’s annual Stations of the Cross procession. Joining a diverse, multi-generational group of participants from across New York City, our students helped bring the story of Christ’s passion into the heart of a busy and ever-moving world.

Throughout the procession, Cristo Rey students played an integral role. From carrying the cross to guiding the crowd between stations, they helped shape a prayerful and reflective experience for all in attendance. One station, in particular, written and presented by our students, invited participants to consider themes of justice, compassion, and solidarity in today’s world, connecting the suffering of Christ to the realities faced by many in our own communities.

In a setting often defined by noise and distraction, the presence of our students offered a powerful witness to faith in action. Their leadership, preparation, and willingness to spend their day in prayer and service reflected a deep commitment to the values at the core of a Cristo Rey education.

We are grateful to Pax Christi for the opportunity to participate in this meaningful tradition, and to our students for representing Cristo Rey New York with reverence and purpose. Through experiences like The Way of the Cross, our young people continue to grow as leaders rooted in faith, committed to justice, and dedicated to serving others.
