Core Value Focus at WSG this Year is on Peacemaking

Washington School for Girls is a co-sponsored ministry of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus.

At the Washington School for Girls (WSG), the beginning of the school year has focused on building community and helping students to understand how to be a positive part of their community — both inside and outside of school. Research demonstrates that students succeed in schools where they feel a sense of belonging, and building community is an important step in creating that secure environment.

Through advisory groups at The View Campus (grades 3-5) and house groupings of students at THEARC (grades 6-8), students have spent time in discussions and games with the goal of building relationships with each other. In addition, the Core Value focus at WSG this year is on Peacemaking. We hope that by teaching and modeling forgiveness, our students can be a positive example in their communities.

To further strengthen and energize our community of young women, we celebrated the International Day of the Girl on October 11th. Being an all-girls school gives our students an advantage and a pathway to succeed as courageous women in society. Students at the WSG are the head of student council, the top athletes, involved in every club, and the ones who raise their hands in the classroom. Our girls are recognized for who they are every day and are taught to believe that they can be and do anything they want.
