Dr. Beth Reaves – Head of School, Washington School for Girls (WSG)
Washington School for Girls is a co-sponsored ministry of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus.

In April 2025, 15 Eighth Graders traveled to London and Felixstowe, England, for the inaugural Girls Go Global capstone trip! Their first few days were spent exploring London through a hop-on/hop-off bus tour, a river cruise, and a walking tour of Brixton. They visited the Tate Britain museum, saw the musical Hamilton, and had a traditional British fish-and-chips meal.
The highlight in London, however, was spending a morning at St. Claudine’s Catholic School for Girls, where they met their British sisters, attended classes with them, and played a few getting-to-know-you games. After that visit, WSG students reflected on what they found to be different at this London school, while also acknowledging the similarities they shared.
Next, students had the unique opportunity to stay at the Religious of Jesus and Mary (RJM) convent in Felixstowe, where they joined again with their St. Claudine’s sisters in a spiritual retreat, titled “Finding God in a Leaf.” Through prayer in the chapel and art activities focused on nature, the girls from both schools reflected on how we find God in our lives. They also explored the seaside village of Felixstowe, experiencing a slower-paced lifestyle in contrast to both London and their homes in Washington, D.C.
When the students returned home, they shared their experiences through several presentations and media appearances, including an event at the DC Public Library, a special luncheon for trip sponsors, and a segment on the local NBC affiliate.
