Speech Ceremony at Cornelia Connelly School Mpeasem

On Friday, 27th October, 2017, the CCSHCJ in Cape Coast, Ghana, marked the 5th anniversary of its inception with its first Speech and Prize-Giving ceremony.

The ceremony began with the opening prayer by Sr. Martha Attakruh, SHCJ, the PLT member of Ghana, followed by the recognition of the dignitaries present. The Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast Archdiocese, Most Rev. Matthias Kwabena Nketsiah, was present as well as Sr. Philomena Aidoo, SHCJ, the African Province Leader of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus. Sister Josephine Anto, SHCJ, the Headmistress of Holy Child Senior High School, Cape Coast, and some Sisters of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus from Ghana and Nigeria were at the occasion to support Sr. Louisa Huni-Dadzie, SHCJ, the Headmistress of the CCSHCJ, Mpeasem, Cape Coast, the staff and pupils of the school.

Sister Louisa Huni-Dadzie gave the welcome address and a brief history of the school, after which Sr. Philomena Aidoo gave her address, in which she congratulated the staff, pupils and parents of the school and thanked all who have contributed to the development of the school.

The Guest Speaker of the day, Mrs. Alice Marie Agyeman, a past Headmistress of the Holy Child Senior High School, Cape Coast, congratulated the Sisters for setting up another school in Cape Coast to help with the education of the younger ones. The Chairperson of the occasion, Dr. Abigail Derkyi Kwarteng, a past student of a Holy Child school, also expressed her gratitude to the SHCJ for their dedication in the area of education.

The children and pupils presented poem recitations, plays, dances and other displays.

Awards were presented to deserving pupils. The following were also presented awards in recognition of their “love, care, support and generous contribution to the development” of the school: The Society Leadership Team, the Province Leadership Team and the first headmistress of the school, Sr. Felicity Amikiya, SHCJ.
