Holy Child Sister Earns Highest French Order of Merit

25 September, 2018

Holy Child Sister Pamela Hussey has earned the highest French order of merit, being named Knight of the Legion of Honor (Chevalier de l’ Ordre National de la Legion d’Honneur).

The award recognises Pamela’s part in “Sigint activities during the Second World War [that] were responsible for saving countless allied lives and played a key role in the liberation of France.”

Many British citizens, veterans of the Second World War who participated in the liberation of France, were distinguished in the Legion of Honor.

Pamela considers this to be a great honour, and she appreciates it immensely.

The Society is very proud of Pamela and the significant work that she and so many others undertook during that perilous time.

    Pamela:

Congratulations on receiving from the French Government the Legion of honor for your significant contribution in the liberation of France. I feel sure that the French will never forget you, and we over here beyond the Atlantic are very proud of you and the other British who were engaged with you in that great work. Cornelia must be smiling down on you and them.
In the picture online you look terrific…not a day older than when I met you when if I remember correctly, you were the Province Secretary. I hope that you feel as good as you look!

    Much love, Virginia Gaine, SHCJ
