What is a vocation?

A vocation is a God-given pull that comes from deep within yourself. Initially, the call challenges you to listen and trust that God is leading you to where you are meant to be.

How do you know you have a vocation?

It isn’t easy. Most describe it as a pull from within. Keep listening to what God is saying to your heart. And continue to trust that listening spirit within.

What is the Society of the Holy Child Jesus?

The Society of the Holy Child Jesus is an international community of women religious founded by Cornelia Connelly. The Society is comprised of three provinces: American, African, and European.

What do the Sisters of the Holy Child do?

Since the Society’s founding in 1846, education has been at the heart of its mission. Today, Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus continue to serve as educators in the broadest sense of the word through their ministries in teaching, spirituality, health care, social justice, pastoral care and administration, and law. In the U.S., the Society also sponsors or co-sponsors 13 schools, one college, and several social service organizations.

Where do the Holy Child Sisters live and serve?

Holy Child Sisters live and serve on four continents. In the American Province, the Holy Child Sisters minister in California, Washington, D.C., Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, as well as in Chile.

How many Holy Child Sisters are there?


There are approximately 350 Holy Child Sisters serving around the world, about 100 of whom serve in the American Province.
