Hope Partnership’s Quint Learning Center Opens

Rose Martin, RSM, Executive Director, Hope Partnership for Education

Hope Partnership for Education is a co-sponsored ministry of the Society of Holy Child Jesus.

Thanksgiving took on added meaning in  2016 at Hope Partnership. On Wednesday, November 23rd, the day before the holiday, we dedicated the Barbara & George Quint Learning Center. This gorgeous space, spanning both sides of our first-floor corridor, was given to Hope Partnership by the Quint brothers — Andy, Doug, and Tom — to serve as a memorial to their parents. In the words of Dr. Andrew Quint, Hope Board Member, “For both of our parents, their education was the key, life-altering event that was responsible for who they were and what they became… they would have been excited about what goes on in this building (Hope) and would have wanted to play a supporting role in your progress as scholars and admired members of the community. We can’t think of a more meaningful way to remember them than with this Center…”

The library/learning center is already being used for all of our programs. Our middle school students have access to a broad array of fiction and non-fiction resources, research material, magazines, desktop computers and a smart board. Space exists for quiet or to work on group projects. Our graduates return to Hope for after-school tutoring, to complete homework, to use the computers, or for a peaceful reading experience. Our adults now have access to much-needed areas for classes, reading materials, and computers. They, too, can enjoy the beauty and quiet.

If you’ve never visited our Education Center or if you haven’t been here recently, we hope that the Quint Learning Center will serve as a catalyst to invite you to this North Philadelphia neighborhood.
