Rosemont College Heritage Day (Rosemont, PA)
Join with the Rosemont College community is celebrating their legacy and that of Cornelia Connelly. There will be a Liturgy in the College’s Main Building at 12:35 p.m., during which Sr. Helen McDonald, Leader of the Society’s American Province, will give a reflection. A luncheon will follow. At 4 p.m., Sr. Eileen McDevitt, Director of the Holy Child Network of Schools, will give a presentation entitled, Rosemont’s Mission flowing from Cornelia Connelly’s philosophy. Opening Liturgy: The Bicentennial Celebration for Cornelia Connelly (Philadelphia, PA)
On January 15, 2009 the Society of the Holy Child will mark the 200th Anniversary of the birth of their foundress, the Venerable Cornelia Connelly. This yearlong celebration, in honor of Cornelia's legacy and mission, will begin with a 2 p.m. Mass at St. Agatha–St. James Church. A reception at the Hall of Flags on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania will follow. RSVP Today! St. Agatha-St. James Church has special significance to the Society: The Holy Child Sisters taught at St. Agatha’s from 1891 to 1912, and at St. James from 1870 to 1967. In addition, the Church is located across the street from St. Leonard’s Academy, which Cornelia purchased on her only visit as a Sister of the Holy Child to the U.S. |

Rededication of Holy Child Park (Melrose, MA)
Holy Child Park at St. Mary’s Parish will be rededicated, followed by a tea for SHCJ and Associates. The Sisters of the Holy Child taught at St. Mary’s School in Melrose, MA from 1909-1982. Today, Sisters of the Holy Child continue to serve the parish. For more information, contact Sr. Mary Samson. |

Holy Child Reception (Portland, OR)
At Our Lady of Lavang (formerly Holy Child Academy) in Portland, OR, the Sisters of the Holy Child will host a reception for Associates, alums, and friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Former students from St. Charles, St. Rita, Holy Family, St. Rose, St. Philip Neri, and Holy Child Academy, all of which the Sisters of the Holy Child taught at, are invited. Intercongregational Associate Directors: Day of Reflection (Meadowbrook, PA)
Associates, companions, and clergy are welcome to come and find reasons to hope for, the faith to believe in, and the love to help bring about such transformative communities for the sake of our world that God so loves. Bicentennial Opening Mass (Rome)
Cornelia Connelly, Foundress of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, discerned her vocation to begin a new religious congregation, the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, at the Chapel of the Sacred Heart Convent in the church of the Trinita dei Monti in Rome. The Opening Mass for the Bicentennial in Rome will be at the Trinita. Cardinal John Foley will preside. |
